Late this afternoon, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued his twenty eighth Executive Order during this state of emergency. Executive Order 202.27 is one of Governor’s shortest executive orders and issues a single directive to address matters related to the COVID-19 crisis. This Executive Order is effective from May 5, 2020 through June 4, 2020. The copy of Executive Order 202.27 is linked here.
NEW DIRECTIVE
- Any suspension or modification of any law heretofore suspended in Executive Order 202, or any amended or modified Executive Order issued thereafter, which allowed for the practice of a profession in the state of New York without a current New York State licensure, or registration, including but not limited to those individuals who are validly licensed in another state or Canada, is hereby extended for a period of thirty days to allow those professionals the ability to continue to provide services necessary for the State’s COVID-19 response
Previous Executive Orders, such as Executive Orders 202.05, 202.10, 202.12, 202.15 and 202.18, enabled certain professionals, whether licensed in another state or Canada, or who were not registered or licensed in New York, to work in New York State to assist with COVID-19 relief notwithstanding the lack of a New York State license or registration. Executive Orders 202.05, 202.10 and 202.12 each are set to expire on May 7, 2020, with their previous expiration dates having been extended to that date by Executive Order 202.14. Executive Order 202.15 is scheduled to expire on May 10, 2020 and Executive Order 202.18 expires on May 16, 2020. The modifications and/or suspensions of New York law that relate to the practice of such professionals has now been extended to June 4, 2020. Accordingly, the non-New York licensed or registered professionals identified in these prior Executive Orders can continue to assist in their relief efforts.
